From the number of posts I’ve written about Chicago you can probably tell that I fell in love with the place. Here’s my last one, I promise, and it’s not even a whole one about Chicago because it’s half about Seattle as well.
Below is a list of well-known people or groups that came from these cities and whose persona or works have somehow entered or affected my life. Both of these places have bred musical, entrepreneurial and technical creativity that have highly influenced various fields.
Raquel Welch – actress, author and sex symbol who’s ancestry dates back to John Quincy Adams, the 6th President of the USA. Featured as a poster in The Shawshank Redemption.
Robert Zemeckis – directed, amongst other things, the Back to the Future series.
Ernest Hemingway – amazing novelist. The Old Man and the Sea – excellent read.
Walter Disney – influenced the field of entertainment to no end.
Bill Gates and Paul Allen – Microsoft. Need I say more?
Nirvana (formed in Aberdeen, Washington, but became big in Seattle) – pretty much made grunge a household name.
Pearl Jam – also huge contributors to the grunge movement of the early 90’s.
William Boeing – founder of aircraft manufacturing company, Boeing.
Jimi Hendrix – legendary musician.
