20 and 10 things I want to do in 2010

My to-do lists from the last few years (apart from having existed solely in the confinements of my mind) have fallen into the depths of oblivion by April. So like many others in this online media-driven world I’m putting it out there in 2010, which does somewhat increase the pressure to achieve!

1) Travel for over half the year

2) Take a 4-week French course in Paris

3) Submit entries for at least 2 photography competitions

4) Learn how to make 3 amazing vegan dishes

5) Do the Tongariro Crossing

6) Write a short story

7) Catch a fish – I feel the need to conquer the irony of happily consuming whilst never having “hunted” for my own

8) Donate blood at least 3 times

9) Give windsurfing and surfing a go

10) Lose at least 7kgs, and then…

11) Get a 1950’s style professional photo shoot done

12) Learn about shares and bonds because I don’t have a clue about these things

13) Volunteer with an animal conservation project during my travels

14) Start learning how to play bass guitar

15) Hold a spider that is at least 2 inches long, preferably a tarantula

16) Go paragliding

17) Make an item of wearable clothing with the sewing machine I have not yet made anything useful with

18) Read ‘Catch 22’ in full for once

19) Learn to ride a motorbike

20) Go camping when I return to NZ

21) Learn how to play poker properly (Vegas in July/August, you see)

22) Sunbathe topless at some beach (call me old-fashioned, but I do think its a bit gutsy)

23) Grow a herb garden with mostly heaps of basil

24) Fast for one day a week at least 4 times (apparently this is very good for you and has the extra benefit of cutting down on costs – its a win-win situation really)

25) Give the vegetarian thing another try, for at least 2 consecutive weeks. Obviously, this won’t happen in Argentina

26) Get a fringe

27) Learn Photoshop

28) Get a new job in PR/Advertising/Online, OR make a decision about studying in 2011

29) Start a Burning Man festival travel fund and go to it within 3 years

30) Learn to sing all the words for Carla Bruni’s ‘Quelq’un M’a Dit’

I can definitely help you with number 7 if you haven’t done that by the time you get back! You should have told me before. Was out fishing last weekend, Mon night, out again tonight…

Hey there! I can help you out with a bunch of these! If you’ll be in the vicinity of Vegas in July/August I will definitely come see you, AND we can see about hitting Burning Man (I have a crew). I can also help you with the Vegan/Vegetarian thing (really it hasn’t been so bad in Argentina) and if you want to head out to SLC, I’ll put you on the bike of your choice.I’m excited to hear about all your travels, and hopefully we’ll cross paths at least a few times πŸ™‚

What a fantastic list of goals for 2010. If you get through all of these (and I believe you can and should) you will have a rocking year! “Do the Tongariro Crossing” also features on my list, so if you are looking for a companion for that one when you get back to NZ, let me know!
